CCYHA House Hockey Starts 9/28-9/29
HOUSE HOCKEY STARTS SEPTEMBER 28 AND 29.
We are thrilled to welcome you to the 2019-20 hockey season. We know everyone is excited and the players are eager to get on the ice.
Until teams are announced in late October, the schedule for CCYHA teams for the first month can be found on the 1stMonth’s Schedule & Groups Page.It is highly suggested that players go to all of sessions in order to be evaluated and prepared for the season but we understand that our players are involved in other sports and school activities.
HOCKEY CHECKIST (Please read this carefully)
Verify which group your player has been assigned and check the rink location, START time and double check the schedule the morning of your practice to make sure you have read it correctly or if any changes have occurred (they will be indicated in red and sent via email to groups affected)
Due to the number of players and coaches, please attend your player's assigned time.
Make sure your child's last name is on their helmet (white hockey tape with a black sharpie is best
Due to the number of kids during these ADM sessions, there may be limited locker room space so arriving at the rink partially dressed is a good idea
Welcome to a new year of hockey! We want to thank all you up front for your time and effort to make this all work. With the explosion of the sport in Columbus, we are continually challenged with managing the limitations of ice and finding the right people to pull off a great experience for the kids.
We are scheduled to hit the ice the weekend of the 28/29 of September. This will begin a month - long effort of evaluating and placing all the kids to teams. This year we expect to over 40 teams across all divisions.
Our first coaches meeting will be as follows (please attend your session):
Sunday Sept 22nd at the Dublin Rec Center at 5600 Post Rd in Dublin, Ohio
House Hockey Registration Update for the 2019-2020 Season
As previously mentioned many divisions filled up quickly. Currently only the Springfield program is open.
WE ARE CURRENTLY EXPLORING OTHER OPTIONS FOR THE 8U/MITE DIVISION. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN POSSIBLY REGISTERING FOR AN 8U PROGRAM, PLEASE EMAIL
WITH YOUR NAME/PLAYER'S NAME AND THEIR YEARS OF HOCKEY EXPERIENCE.
Before you start the registration process, will need to obtain a 2019-2020 USA Hockey numberHERE and if you are new to CCYHA, you will need to scan your birth certificate and upload it during the registiration process. To go to the registration page, click HERE.
In addition, we wanted to inform you of a couple changes for the upcoming season.
1. Springfield House Hockey is partnering with CCYHA to aid in the administration of their house hockey program for the 2019-2020 hockey season. For CCYHA families, the only notable change is that CCYHA 6U/8U (mini mite/mite) house teams will play a few Springfield house teams throughout the season. While the majority of games will continue to be scheduled in Columbus as they have been in the past, CCYHA house teams (6U/8U) will also have the opportunity to play their first “away” games in Springfield one or two times during the season.
2. Due to the number of 8U/Mite players and the varying skill level at this age group, CCYHA will tier this division. Players that have had multiple years of team hockey in an organized league and have the appropriate skill-level based upon an evaluation process to take over the first few weeks of the house season will be placed in a separate ADM group. This group will consist primarily of the experienced older aged players. The final number of players in this group will be based upon overall House registration. Further information can be found on ourHouse Hockey Program Overview page.
We look forward to another exciting year at CCYHA. The season klcks off on September 28th and 29th with three weeks of evaluation sessions. The schedule for this first month will be out shortly.
Declaration of Player Safety, Fair Play and Respect
Coaches, Parents & Players –
USA Hockey is committed to creating a safe and fair environment for all participants. Respect for the game, opponents, coaches, and officials is a critical part of that environment and it covers several different aspects of sportsmanship and fair play. This Declaration of Safety, Fair Play and Respect will guide a change in culture as to what is considered to be acceptable/unacceptable body checking and competitive contact at all levels of play.
The Declaration clarifies and updates existing rules/definitions to emphasize the key points to more clearly outline what is deemed acceptable and unacceptable behavior (whether it be body contact/checking or banging on the boards). Click on the link below to read the Declaration documents and view a video that shows examples of actions deemed "acceptable" and "unacceptable" to help illustrate expected behavior.
CCYHA is proud to announce its continuing partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) for the 2019-2020 season.
As an organization we have committed to serving the families in our hockey community by helping to develop not only good hockey players, but ultimately, good people. We recognize the importance of athletics being co-curricular, not extra-curricular — the valuable lessons learned through youth sports sustain and drive our young athletes to meet the many challenges they face away from the ice.
CCYHA is committed to supporting coaches and parents as they share the valuable, character developing lessons learned through youth sports. As such, we are excited to announce our continuing partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, a non-profit organization that provides tools, resources and training for youth sports organizations across the country. Through this partnership, we will be hosting a series of workshops for our coaches, parents, and young student-athletes with the ultimate goal of providing the tools and resources to further strengthen our growing organization by taking an intentional approach towards elevating our culture, supporting coaches and parents, and serving your young athletes.
Some workshops will provide specifically tailored training and information for designated coaches and our newest members of CCYHA.
The first workshop is scheduled for
Sunday, September 8, 2019
3:00pm - 5:00pm
Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC)
5600 Post Rd Dublin OH43017
This workshop is required for all House League coaches within the Mini-Mite and Mite Divisions
but is open to any other CCYHA coaches or managers desiring to attend (especially coaches new to CCYHA)
Coaching Clinics for Columbus Ohio have been announced. Coaches, if you need these clinics, please sign up ASAP before they fill up. You need to complete your required clinics in order to coach and be rostered on a team this season. Other clinics in the Mid-Am region are also available.

Should your player sustain a head injury, a baseline test is used as a resource to return the concussed brain back to the baseline state.
If you are interested in having your player take a concussion baseline test, you may schedule your player during an open session by contacting Casie Elander at the number/email below.
Casie Elander Med. AT - Concussion Testing Coordinator at OhioHealth Sports Medicine
Participants must be at least 10 years of age and the test results are good for two years. There is no fee for the test, but it does last approximately one hour and takes place in a group setting so it is important that athletes are on time.
Upon scheduling a time, Casie will send detailed information and the required forms. The Dublin location is scheduling August already.
