2024/25 Season Changes

Tryout Process

  1. 2x SESSIONS PER GROUP
  2. More ice time during each tryout session for your skater and reduced number of players on the ice to be evaluated
  3. Player registration numbers will dictate if a group consolidates to all birth year in single group
  4. DEVELOPMENT TEAMS WILL BE PICKED IN APRIL (2010-2015)
  5. Tryouts for all teams will be done at the same time
  6. WEAR YOUR OWN JERSEYS TO TRYOUTS
  7. No more pennies / loose fitting jerseys for players to wear
  8. Roster / Jersey # entry will be sent out prior to tryouts for all families to update
  9. 2015 ONLY - OFFER CONTINGENCY PILOT PROGRAM
  10. Any participant who tries out at CCYHA for the 2015 birth year will not be required to accept the offer until Monday morning
  11. This will allow families the flexibility to secure a spot at CCYHA early and if they would like, they can try out for Battery 2015 Elite with no fear of wondering where to go if they don't make the team

  2. Reworking some of our ice offerings to allocate full ice time to teams
  3. IMPROVED JERSEYS NAMES AND LETTERING
  4. Continued work with our vendors to ensure that jersey quality is improved and jerseys will hold up throughout the season
  5. MORE SKILL SESSIONS WITH TOP COACHES IN OHIO
  6. Continued focus on bringing in top coaches to offer our athletes the best training available
  7. Goalie / Skating / Skills sessions will be provided throughout the season
  8. GOALIE COACHING SESSIONS
  9. Weekly sessions with specialized goalie coaches from around central Ohio during practice
  10. INCREASE PARTNERSHIP WITH PURE HOCKEY FOR ALL YOUR EQUIPMENT NEEDS
  11. Competitive pricing on team equipment and all ordered through Pure Hockey's team website and delivered right to your door


DEVELOPMENT TEAM SEASON OFFERINGS

  2. Individual birth year teams for our CO-ED Squirt / PeeWee Teams
  3. HOME / AWAY OFFICIAL BLUE JACKETS JERSEYS
  4. Teams will wear the same travel jerseys / socks that all of our teams wear going forward
  5. Eliminating the Reversal jerseys and knit socks
  6. OFF ICE OPPORTUNITIES VIA THE SPOT
  7. Off Ice programming provided by The Spot Dublin, similar to our Travel Teams to better prepare our athletes
  8. PURE HOCKEY - SIMPLIFIED ORDERING OF EQUIPMENT AND APPARAL
  9. Offer this partnership to all CCYHA teams to streamline the ordering process for all equipment and apparel needs
  10. CENTRALIZIED SCHEDULING / ACCOUNTING / TOURNAMENT REGISTRATION
  11. Reducing the commitment on teams to schedule and plan tournaments, handle any of the league fees, simplifying the process to allow families to focus on the development and fun at the events
  12. UPDATES TO THE 8U MITE OFFERINGS AT CCYHA
  13. We are finalizing plans and will communicate the updates when tryout registration is open shortly.

HOUSE PROGRAMMING

  1. CONTINUED PARTNERSHIP WITH BLUE JACKETS HOCKEY LEAGUE
  2. Effort to allow Development teams the opportunity to compete at some tournaments while doing our best to work around the Blue Jackets schedule to not force families to choose which event to attend
  3. 12U HOCKEY TRANSITION TO BLUE JACKETS HOCKEY LEAGUE (BJHL)
  4. 2012 and 2013 Birth Years will be participating in the new PeeWee programming at BJHL

FAQ

Tryout Process

  1. How come CCYHA only allows 24 hours to accept a roster spot on a team?
  2. This practice is not unique to CCYHA, its important to finalize teams and communicate with all tryout participants on the outcome for their individual child in a timely manner
  3. Tryouts are the most stressful part of the year for most families, and we try to eliminate as much of the waiting by seeking commitments quickly
  4. We are piloting a program with delayed commitments at the 2015 birth year. This will allow players to tryout for the Battery and commit to the team they feel best suits the player/family priorities
  5. CAN MY CHILD REMAIN ANONYMOUS ON REGISTRATION AND SHARED DOCUMENTS PRIOR TO TRYOUTS?
  6. Yes, if you have concern and would like your child's name anonymous on the shared documents prior to tryouts, we can accommodate.
  7. Please email us at ccyhainfo@gmail.com with your child's name, birth year, and your indication to remain anonymous.
  8. Only a few individuals have access to registration names prior to tryouts and do not share that information.
  9. My child can only attend one of the sessions that is scheduled, what do we do?
  10. In the event you are unable to attend your assigned session, please reach out to ccyhainfo@gmail.com with your child's name, birth year, quick explanation of the situation
  11. My child would only like to try out for the Development Team, not the travel teams
  12. We have transitioned this year to a combined tryout, with both Travel and Development teams being picked from the same tryout sessions
  13. Please email us at ccyhainfo@gmail.com with your child's name, birth year, and your indication that you wish your child to ONLY be considered for a spot on the development team. We will make note on our evaluation forms
  14. If you would like to be considered for travel and development team, no action is needed and your player will be evaluated for all teams
  15. When are coaches going to be announced?
  16. As coaching commitments are finalized, we will post information on the website and social media
  17. The tryout pages will also be updated with the information
  18. When will I know what group I will be in?
  19. We are attempting to release that information shortly after registration closes and will email all families registered when that information is available
  20. Can I change which tryout group I am in when they are released?
  21. CCYHA Leadership has several factors when determine which group to put a child in and we ask that no requests be submitted to swap
  22. If a player is determine based on skill / need to move between the groups between Day 1 and Day 2, we will reach out to you to alert you of the change
  23. How soon will we receive word if he made the team or not?
  24. Once all offers for a specific team has been accepted in Crossbar, we will release the team information
  25. Once all teams have been filled and all spots accepted, an email will be sent to players that haven't a made a team notifying them that the tryout process has been completed
